Hot Tub Closed

Safety of our patrons is SLSC's top priority. During daily inspections, anti-entrapment equipment was found to be in disrepair. Given the highly regulated nature of public pools, these repairs take time as all appropriate approvals need to be obtained including a final sign-off by Alberta Health Services. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and commit to communicating a timeline for re-opening when it is known.

Update: May 10

Preliminary approvals have been received from AHS and we are now waiting on the arrival of specialized equipment for installation. Anticipated timeline for final AHS sign-off on repairs is late May.

Spray Park Repairs Underway!

As you may recall, last summer (2023), we closed our Spray Park early. This was due to noting significant water loss from our Spray Park, prompting us to further investigate the source, which was found to be extensive cracking in the underground pipes that serve the Spray Park.

Expect to see (& hear!) construction as we undertake repairs on our Spray Park for anticipated reopening July 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience and disturbance to our guest experience throughout the repair process.

New Turf Playing Surface Coming

Due to the end-of-life and lifting seams of our current turf surface, coupled with increased demand for year-round recreational play, SLS Centre will be completing a renovation of the turf playing surface this summer 2024.

Following consultation with our major sport partners and industry, new multi-sport flooring will be installed. This flooring surface is specifically designed to reduce the risk of injury, increase traction, and is suitable for a variety of sports. This new sports field will continue to accommodate sports currently played on the turf – soccer, lacrosse, and baseball – as well as optimize opportunities for futsal, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, and basketball. Two motorized dividing curtains will be added, creating the opportunity to divide the field into three playing areas, each measuring approximately 60 feet x 85 feet. Additionally, the current rink boards that face the main hallway will be replaced with an 8-foot-high tempered glass board system, maximizing the spectator viewing experience.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming you back to our improved fieldhouse soon.
